2007/1/31 Congratulations Cori & Kevin!!!On January 28, 2007 at 11:23 a.m. my best friend Cori and her husband Kevin welcomed their beautiful and healthy baby boy into this world. Cohen Crawford Hartley weighed 7 lbs 6 oz and was 19.5 inches. Congratulations Cori & Kevin, we are so excited to meet our new "nephew"!!! 2007/1/28 A Relaxing WeekendOh yeah it really was.....and it kind of needs to be since the baby free weekends are now officially "endangered". We spent the weekend sleeping in, putting the finishing touches on the baby room and trying to do some of the things that won't be as easy to do later on. The good news is, I think we are officially ready for Alli to show up....at least as ready as two first timers can be before all the magic happens.
Nikki cannot wait for it all to begin. Ever since she's been taken out of work, she's remembered how much she doesn't like not working. She's even thought about heading back in to stay busy. I've had to remind her that she's on Doctor's orders. She'll be plenty busy in no time though.
Hope everyone has a great week and we'll make sure to keep the blog updated in case anything happens! 2007/1/24 No Flipping for the 'lil fishAt our doctor's appointment yesterday, we learned that there is less than a 25% chance of success of flipping our little one with the version method. Given that this is an extremely uncomfortable procedure (and potentially risky), we opted forego the version and schedule the c-section. So we now know when our little one will make her appearance (assuming I don't go into full blown labor before the date!) We know that this is what is best for our baby but are feeling a little bummed that we will miss out on the excitement of the "natural" birth process and the surprise of when she is coming. Please understand that we would like to retain some element of surprise and have decided not to share the c-section date. We promise to let you all know when she is born!!! 2007/1/23 World's Most Wonderful Husband! As of yesterday, our 'lil fish was officially "full term." To say "thank you" and "congratulations," my amazing husband brought me the most beautiful yellow and peach roses! He is such a wonderful hubby and will be a fantastic daddy!!! 2007/1/18 Countdown to the 'lil fishWe have less than a month to go before our 'lil fish arrives. Today was busy and exciting. This morning we had our final (we hope!) ultrasound and the little stinker is still breech! It is unlikely that she will turn on her own and the doctors are not sure whether they will be able to manually turn her at this point because she has scooted so low into the pelvis. We are not giving up hope yet and will consult with the doctor again tomorrow to discuss whether it would be worth it to try to manually turn her (called "version"). If not, it looks as though we will be scheduling a c-section. Stay tuned for updates . . .
The fun and exciting part of the day was our baby shower at the law firm. We received many lovely gifts and were overwhelmed by the generosity of my co-workers. I cannot imagine there is anything this little one still needs.
For those who do not yet know, I have been pulled out of work for the remainder of the pregnancy so I am officially at home now. Not sure what to do with myself before the sweet pea arrives but everyone keeps telling me to enjoy this time while I have it. Since I am so tired these days, I figure I will use the time to take naps, and of course update this blog!
2007/1/15 Happy (belated) New Year!!!Well we have had quite a start to 2007 . . .
We enjoyed Christmas back home in WA with our families. It was a wonderful trip that we were sad to see end but we had to return home to prepare for the arrival of our 'lil fish.
We arrived home later than planned the Thursday after Christmas thanks to mechanical problems with our plane. We made it home close to midnight and went straight to bed because we both had work on Friday (or so we thought!) Unfortunately, I woke up feeling horrible. Figuring it was just a little bug from being stuck in the airport and on the plane for so long, I stayed home and tried to rest. Well, rather than getting better, it got much worse and I spent the next week in bed feeling absolutely miserable. Finally, this past Monday my doctors agreed that this "bug" was lasting way too long and were concerned that I may have an infection so I was put on antibiotics and I finally returned to work last Friday. I still don't feel 100% but I am doing so much better than I was. Thank goodness!!! I cannot remember the last time I had a cold keep me down for so long. This is why we have been a bit tardy with updates :)
With my feeling so awful, we haven't been doing too much but we did celebrate Garrett's birthday last week and had a wonderful time. I will post pics of him later.
This weekend, we decided to "vacation at home" and have thoroughly enjoyed the three days off. We watched a lot of sports (Go Pats!) and were a bit bummed by the Seahawks loss but at least we still have the Pats to cheer on. We also decided it was a good weekend to organize and redecorate various parts of the house - still a work in progress but we're pleased with it so far. Great news is that we think the nursery is completely finished! Now the 'lil fish just needs to hurry up and get here!!!
Hope you all are enjoying a happy and healthy start to 2007 . . . |
